Internship in Vine Bioinformatics at Hans Binder Lab to Study the Diversity and Genetic Richness of Caucasian Vine Accessions

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our Vine Bioinformatics team at the Armenian Bioinformatics Institute (ABI).
You will be involved in studies focusing on the following topics:

  • Unveiling the population structure of wild and cultivated grapevines, with a special focus on Armenian grapes.
  • Defining the biological mechanisms underlying disease resistance.
  • Investigating grapevine responses to environmental factors.
  • Making scientific content about vine genomics understandable and engaging for the public.

This internship offers an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge bioinformatics projects within a collaborative and innovative environment.

Qualifications:
We are looking for someone interested in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of genomics, computer science, and molecular biology. You should have a background and skills in BIO-STEM, particularly bioinformatics and data science, and a strong willingness to “learn on the job” to contribute to our research goals.

  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, Natural Sciences, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of molecular biology and genomics concepts.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as R and/or Python, and bash scripting.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an innovative team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in English.

Location: On-site (remote work may be possible in exceptional cases)
Duration and Remuneration: Unpaid 1-month internship, followed by a paid position
