ABI's Key Insights into Colorectal Cancer Liver Metastasis and Treatment

Our research on the profiling of colorectal cancer liver metastasis is now available!
The publication is the result of a one-year’s research of an ABI team of students and researchers led by Dr. Hans Binder together with scientists from Leipzig University and supported by Agenus Inc, a Boston-based company developing immunotherapies against cancer.

Liver metastasis, linked with poor prognosis, is a common occurrence in various cancers, including colorectal cancer. Such metastases pose a significant challenge for clinical intervention and represent a major cause of cancer-related mortality. However, the molecular mechanisms as a prerequisite for successful treatment remain poorly understood.

Our study provides insights into the heterogeneity of the tumors with potential implications for treatment and personalized diagnostics. It explores the functional context and treatment options related to immune activation and treatment resistance. Additionally, the research sheds light on the epigenetic plasticity of metastasis and their relation to primary colorectal tumors.
