From 31 August to 4 September 2026, members of the Armenian Bioinformatics Institute (ABI) participated in ECCB 2026 - the European Conference on Computational Biology, presenting their research and engaging with the international computational biology and bioinformatics community.
ABI was represented by Lilit Nersisyan, Tatevik Jalatyan, Davit Tarverdyan, Anahit Yeghiazaryan, Maria Nikoghosyan, and Nate Zadirako. The team presented research spanning population genomics, cancer transcriptomics, and telomere profiling.
Maria Nikoghosyan presented the poster “Population Structure of Wild and Cultivated Grapevines in Armenia,” based on the team’s recently published research on the population structure and genetic diversity of Armenian grapevines.

Nate Zadirako presented “Transcriptomic Profiling Identifies Immunotherapy-Responsive Phenotypes in Microsatellite-Stable Metastatic Colorectal Cancer,” also based on recently published research. The study investigates transcriptomic features associated with immunotherapy-responsive phenotypes in microsatellite-stable metastatic colorectal cancer.

Davit Tarverdyan, Anahit Yeghiazaryan, and Tatevik Jalatyan presented “Computel 2.0: A Platform for Comprehensive Telomere Profiling & TRV Phenotyping: Applications in Bulk, cfDNA & Single-Cell Sequencing.” The work presents an updated platform for comprehensive telomere profiling and telomere repeat variant phenotyping across multiple sequencing data types.
The conference also provided an opportunity for the ABI team to reconnect with ABI alumna Arpine Grigoryan, who is a co-author of the research presented by Nate Zadirako.
The participation of ABI researchers was supported in part through external fellowship and travel funding. Davit Tarverdyan’s participation was supported by the H. Hovnanian Family Foundation’s Armenian Fellowships program, while Anahit Yeghiazaryan received support through the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s Short Term Conference and Travel Scholarships programme.
Participation in ECCB 2026 provided the ABI team with an opportunity to present its research to an international audience, exchange ideas with researchers from across the field, and strengthen connections within the broader bioinformatics and computational biology community.
