The Armenian Bioinformatics Institute (ABI) is pleased to announce the successful completion of the OMICSS-25 Genome Bioinformatics Summer School, marking the conclusion of an inspiring month of learning, collaboration, and discovery.
Over the course of four weeks, participants from Armenia and across Europe engaged in an intensive curriculum covering the foundations of bioinformatics — from algorithms and sequencing technologies to advanced topics in functional genomics and computational biology. Lectures and hands-on sessions were complemented by real-world research projects in cancer omics, microbiome, and plant genomics, enabling participants to apply their newly acquired knowledge to practical scientific challenges.
The program culminated with a BootCamp in Yeghegis, where participants presented their final projects, demonstrating remarkable progress, creativity, and teamwork. The event concluded with a closing ceremony and a well-deserved celebration of the participants’ achievements.
A special highlight of this year’s program was the German-Armenian Workshop Day, which featured keynote lectures and interactive workshops on topics such as machine learning, cancer genomics, telomere biology, microbiome research, and Caucasian grapevine genomics. These sessions fostered valuable scientific discussions and opened new avenues for collaboration between Armenian and German research communities.
ABI extends its deepest gratitude to all mentors, lecturers, guest speakers, organizers, partners, sponsors, and colleagues from Germany, as well as to our dedicated students, whose enthusiasm and hard work made OMICSS-25 a true success.
Together, we have built not only a high-quality educational program but also a strong and growing community of future bioinformaticians committed to advancing science in Armenia and beyond.
